Back to School |
On August 15, as BJSHS students returned to school leaving their summer break behind, they quickly noticed the various changes in the school day. BJSHS incorporated a new class schedule, removed advisory, added new classes and distributed new iPads. Class schedule and curriculum changes provided the students more opportunities to learn in a hands-on approach. The middle school teachers met over the summer to prepare for Project Based Learning (PBL). The 7th & 8th graders are separated into a block schedule. The two high school English teachers are team teaching 9-12 and they are also transitioning into PBL. New classes were added or restructured such as ag business, personal finance and animal science. According to Mrs. Kieffer, the new classes allow the students to explore different areas of study and more career opportunities. The math department purchased new curriculum that includes supplemental resources and interactive practices with the iPad, which aligns K-12 math, according to Mr. Wuthrich. The 2016-2017 school year is new and different, which is eye-opening for the students. Hear the new student introductions and students' opinions on the Be Proud page. |
