2017 brings a new year and a new school semester. Principal Brett Mohr asked the staff to look for a unique way to begin the new year by issuing the one word challenge. Each staff member selected a word to focus on to guide them through 2017. Mohr selected commitment as his word, stating on his blog, "I will commit to our school, students, staff, parents, and myself in 2017." Once all of the words were submitted, the wordle was created and t-shirts were purchased for the staff.
Some teachers and coaches issued the same challenge to their classes and teams. "I issued the One-Word challenge to my band members as an effort to bring our group closer together and to instill a larger sense of commitment amongst everyone in the program. When students are committed to the group and its vision, I believe they will do more to hold each other accountable. We commented on our strengths and weaknesses, and how One Word could help us to strive for greatness. The One-Word Challenge has been a huge success. I plan to do it again next year," Mrs. Moose.
