The baseball season started with its home opener being canceled due to the rain. This year the team has had to practice inside more due to the rain. The team returns to the field with a mindset of working hard and anticipates the season. The baseball team travels to Humboldt on Monday, April 3.
"I want the kids to highly perform on and off the field and wants them to get better everyday and wanting them to become young men throughout the season. I expect them to have play hard in a game and give it their all even when things get rough. I expect them to always work together as a team not just as an individual," Coach Scribner. "I think the season is going to be great. I think the new league will help us and should be the same as last year. my goals would be to go to state and win league. I enjoy learning from the coaches and because they are great coaches and are great people to be around," junior Blake Bevan. "My expectations for the team would be to continue to learn to help each other, look after each other, and become a big family. Our goals for this year from a culture standpoint are to get closer and understand that ultimately track is a team sport and we are a family. Our other goal would be to see kids improve each week and peak as we approach the TVL, regional and state meets. I expect the kids to have fun, learn to compete with each other and get better as the season continues," said sophomore Hunter Clift. Team Roster:

The softball team has experienced a rainy start. Many practices have been held indoors, but that does not stop them from working hard. Unfortunately, though there will not be a JV softball team this year due to numbers. All girls will play on the Varsity team, showing off their skills. Coach Womacks is confident in the girls and everyone is ready for a great season. The softball season opened with the team's first game being canceled due to the rain. Softball competes Monday, April 3 against Humboldt.
"I think we will do very well this season. We are in a new league and we know nothing about the teams yet. The team to beat at this point would be Humboldt, who is top in the league. I wish we had a JV team, and I don't like it that we don't have a lot of girls out for sports to make a JV team. It is hard on the team because the girls don’t gain the experience for the future. I still have high expectations I have a good core of the starting spots and I have two that I prepared to start the game, they are Paige Fisher and Heidi Burch. Our goal this season is to improve our skills every practice and to go to Pratt. I want the girls to improve through the season, and I notice in the girls that we are a very unselfish team. They have always supported each other and I love watching the upperclassmen encourage the younger or more inexperienced players. They want to work hard in practice. The new players have developed every single day and some have improved quicker than anticipated,” Coach Womacks. "For my first time playing softball everything is going well. Everybody on the team is really nice and accepting. I think we will really go far even though we don't have many people. I'm very excited to he on the team. I am looking forward to our first game, if it doesn't get canceled," said sophomore Jillian Stark. Team Roster:

"State was exciting last year it was the second time i had qualified i plan to continue to grow and to return to state in pole volt and i have high hopes for our 4x100 team. its sad that its my last sport as a senior i wish it would slow down," senior Weston Scott. |
"I went to state last year in the 400. Since, we dropped to 2A, I have a more likely chance to return to state. We have a new head coach, so the practice experience is different. We are more involved as a team. I am personally working on getting my 400 time down, triple jump, long jump, and 100. We also have a decent 4x100 team with Weston, Maverick, Jace and me," junior Clay Hogoboom. "I decided to do track to get in shape for football. I compete in in 110 hurdles, long jump, 4x100 and high jump. My expectations for this year would be to get one gold medal and to get better as the year progresses," junior Maverick Herring.
